Arbor Day 2024 was celebrated on April 27th, —Dumont's 20th year of honoring this holiday that celebrates the planting, upkeep and preservation of trees all over the world! Mayor John Russell presented this year's proclamation. 
 
Each year, the Dumont Shade Tree Commission chooses a deserving candidate to be the recipient of the Dumont Shade Tree Award of Merit. With gratitude for his support of the urban canopy and commitment to the borough, Dennis Banoff, municipal arborist for the Dumont Public Works, was awarded this recognition.

A special thank you to Boy Scout Troops 64 and 1345 for leading the pledge of Allegiance, Dumont students for participating in the poster presentation, the Dumont Public Works for the maintenance and care of the Arboretum,
Visions Credit Union for their generous financial donation for the garden beds, Lupardi's Nursery and the Town Council for their support.
